Lisle's French Market Moved to Burlington Avenue This Year. Its Last Saturday Shows What Changed.

October 22, 2026

"It's behind the buildings downtown. It's well off the road, so it's not always easy to see." That was Lisle Mayor Mary Jo Mullen in the Daily Herald last spring, describing where the Lisle French Market used to set up on Garfield Avenue, facing PrairieWalk Pond. This year the canopies moved to Commuter Lot B on Burlington Avenue, across from the Marq on Main apartments and close to Village Hall.

The village wasn't only looking for a bigger lot. It wanted the Saturday market crowd walking the rest of downtown. This Saturday, October 24, is the last market day on the operator's calendar, and it's a good day to see how that plan worked out.

What the Move From Garfield Avenue Changed

The move was about space and visibility. According to a village news release cited by the Daily Herald, the Burlington Avenue lot adds room for 20 more vendors, supporting up to 40 each week. The village got the lot ready ahead of time with a project last year that put in the posts the market's canopies need.

The mayor was open about what she hoped would follow. "We're really looking forward to the launch of French market this year and having more vendors, more people, more space," Mullen told the Daily Herald, adding that she hoped it would "help capture people, and people who maybe haven't really wandered around downtown will have more of an opportunity to also."

Bensidoun USA, which also runs open-air markets in Wheaton, Geneva and West Dundee, opened the Lisle season on May 2 with a sold-out vendor lineup and live music. The opening-day list included artisan breads from MY Sourdough Bakehouse, organic cheese from the family-run North Sky Farm, Illinois Bee Rescue, Everette's Coffee and soy candles from the Creatively Intentional Candle Company. The operator's Lisle page lists the market at 1001 Burlington Ave., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 2 through October 24.

Three New Spots Open During Market Hours

In her message in the Village's Fall 2026 newsletter, Mullen named three businesses that recently opened in Downtown Lisle: Mosaic Coffee & Co., Kaia Bowls and Sunnyside Social. All three are on Burlington Avenue or Main Street, and all three are open during at least part of the market's Saturday hours.

Business Address What's on the menu Saturday hours
Mosaic Coffee & Co. 1012 Burlington Ave. Coffee, refreshers, sandwiches, salads 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunnyside Social 4700 Main St. Breakfast and lunch, served all day 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kaia Bowls 4751 Main St., Unit 2B Poke, acai, fruit and smoothie bowls 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mosaic's address is just down Burlington from the market's 1001 Burlington listing. The shop's own site describes it as a community gathering space as well as a coffee bar. Sunnyside Social has the clearest timeline of the three. Patch reported that it officially opened August 12 and serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week. The menu runs from chilaquiles and ancient grain bowls to blueberry cheesecake buttermilk pancakes and taffy apple crepes, and lunch items like the hot honey chicken sandwich and smash burgers are available any time. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are on the menu too. Kaia Bowls, on its Lisle location page, lists poke alongside acai, fruit and smoothie bowls.

The same newsletter shows the village is betting on these blocks for the long term. Lisle's Downtown Tax Increment Financing District was set up in 2015 and was scheduled to expire in 2038. The village is extending it through 2050. It happens in Lisle's 70th year as a village.

How October 24 Lines Up

There's one thing to check before heading out. Bensidoun USA lists October 24 as closing day, and the Daily Herald's spring coverage gave the same date. But the Village's fall newsletter, printed in August, listed October 10 as the final Saturday. A quick look at the market's page Saturday morning will confirm whether the canopies are up.

If they are, the morning on Burlington Avenue could look like this:

  1. 8 a.m. The market opens. It runs rain or shine, admission is free, and parking is free in any of the commuter lots, including the ones next to Burlington Avenue.
  2. Breakfast at Sunnyside Social. It has been open since 7 a.m., so you can eat before or after a lap of the stalls.
  3. 8:30 a.m. Mosaic Coffee & Co. opens its doors on Burlington.
  4. 9 a.m. Kaia Bowls opens on Main Street, an easy stop for something to take home after the market.
  5. 1 p.m. The market closes for the season.

Two more things will shape the morning. Leave the dog at home, because pets aren't allowed at the market unless they're service animals. And the same Saturday, the Morton Arboretum holds its Fall Color 5K, starting at 8 a.m. Registration is $60 through October 23 or $65 on race day, and it includes general admission to the Arboretum. Racers who finish in time can still reach Burlington Avenue before the final stalls pack up at 1 p.m.

After the Market Closes, the Lot Stays Busy

The commuter lots and the area around Village Hall stay in use after the produce stalls are gone. Two village events over the next six weeks happen right near the market's spot.

On Saturday, November 7, the Village collects pumpkins for compost from 9 a.m. to noon in the Village Hall parking lot at 925 Burlington Avenue. Only bare pumpkins are accepted. Then on Saturday, December 5, Lights of Lisle fills the commuter parking lot next to Village Hall from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., with the Santa Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Patch confirmed the date and schedule in an October 16 report. Mosaic Coffee & Co. stays open until 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Kaia Bowls until 8 p.m. too, so both will still be open when the tree lights come on that evening.

Here's the rest of the calendar between the last market and the tree lighting:

  • Saturday, October 31: The Morton Arboretum's Howl-o-Ween runs 9 a.m. to noon, with dog parades, a costume contest, trick-or-treating, vendors and photo spots. Dog admission is $7 for guests and $6 for members, plus any general admission that applies. This is the morning for the dogs that had to stay home from the market.
  • Saturday, October 31: The Village's recognized trick-or-treating hours are 3 to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 8: Lisle's Veterans Day Observance starts at 11 a.m. at Lisle Veterans Memorial, 4721 Center Avenue, on the grounds of the Museums at Lisle Station Park.
  • Tuesday, November 10: The Museums at Lisle Station Park hold a free Night Tour for all ages.
  • Friday, November 13: The Arboretum's IllumiBrew runs 5:30 to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 14: Illumination opens for its 2026–27 season and runs through January 2, 2027. This year adds four new installations and a Pine Whistle Railroad add-on, and a Sensory Night with static lights and low-volume music is set for November 17.

Lisle prepared one commuter lot for a Saturday market, and the commuter lots near Village Hall now host downtown's events from the May market opening to the December tree lighting. The coffee, breakfast and poke spots on Burlington and Main all opened in the same year.

If you live near downtown and wonder how a busier Burlington Avenue might affect what your home is worth, Wardlow Group can walk you through it. Ask for a free home valuation, and we'll go through recent sales near the blocks around Commuter Lot B with you.
